      From Pioneers of Ovens & Townsmen of Beechworth by M. Rosalyn Shennan:-
      Thomas Sandham, Builder and Undertaker, Beechworth.

      Born about 1828 in Cornwall, England, the son of William Sandham. He arrived in Victoria in the early 1850s and soon after that settled in Beechworth. His trade was that of a carpenter and builder and he had the contract to build a number of local buildings including the Beechworth Shire Offices built in 1889 and the Wallace Ward at the Ovens Benevolent Asylum. After retirement he ran a boarding house in High St, Beechworth.
      Sandham was a member of the Board of Management of the Ovens District Hospital, a member of the Foresters and of the Methodist Church. He was married to Ann Preston, who died in 1904. They had a family of 4 daughters. Thomas Sandham died on 22nd December, 1906 at the age of 78.
